Q: Can my non-crafty partner/spouse/friend come?
A: YES! The more the merrier. My wife, Alison, is not a crocheter, and she will be along for the ride. There are so many activities onboard - nobody will be bored!
Q: How much crafting time/space is available?
A: We'll have a nice private crochet area available daily from 8am to noon, and even longer on our three sea days. There's also plenty of space on the ship to crochet whenever you like.
Q: Can I meet the other crocheters before the trip?
A: Yes! Click here and let me know you'd like to schedule a group Zoom call.
Q: Will there be crochet workshops/classes/vendors/etc.?
A: At this time we have no plans for additional crochet events, but may add those later on. Please let us know if you'd be interested in participating in or hosting these types of events.
CRUISE/PRICING:
Q: Can I sail solo?
A: Yes, but the pricing per-person is slightly higher for a solo cabin. I also offer roommate matching- See the booking page to get matched up.
Q: When should I arrive?
A: I recommend arriving a day early (if flying in), and there will be a group block of rooms at a hotel nearby. Details will be provided soon. Last call for boarding is at 3pm.
Q: What costs are additional?
A: Flights, travel insurance, transportation to/from cruise port, pre-cruise hotel, cruise port parking, off-ship excursions, and some on-ship experiences such as spa services, tattoo parlor, Grog Walk, etc. Alcohol is not included, but Sea Terrace rooms get a complimentary $200 bar tab.
Q: Do I need travel insurance?
A: I highly recommend purchasing travel insurance. There is a spot on the booking form to request a quote.
Q: Do I need a passport, visa, etc.?
A: Passports are strongly recommended, but you may be able to travel without one. Contact me for a complete list of acceptable travel documents. No visas are needed at this time for US travelers.
Q: By when do I need to book?
A: There are a limited number of rooms available, so I recommend booking as early as possible. Based on the interest form survey, I anticipate this cruise selling out.
Q: Can I upgrade to a suite, select a specific room, etc.?
A: Yes! As long as the room type you want is still available, I can book any room on the ship. Contact me to check availability and pricing.
Q: Is Virgin a good cruise line for me?
A: If you're 18 or older, then absolutely! Virgin has something for everyone, and all ages are welcome. Virgin is an inclusive and diverse cruise line - whoever you are, you'll fit right in.
Q: Will there be more crochet cruises in the future?
A: YES! I will share more details later on, but my hope is to run 2-3 each year, sail to different locations, and include more crochet-adjacent activities (i.e. workshops/classes/vendor tables/etc).
If you're close enough to drive to the port, then you're on Easy Street.
If not, you'll want to fly in at least a night before in order to ensure you're on time for the cruise. If you miss the boat, you miss the trip, so I recommend lowering the risk of a delayed or canceled flight, which would cause you to miss boarding. I'll be opening up a room block for the night of the 6th soon.
